So less than an hour ago, I was helping a strange lady pick out knives at my job. By strange I mean she bought two of the same knife (fixed knives with forward-swept blades), saying that her father (or uncle or whatever) always said "you have two hands; you should use them both". Then mentioned she might want a flip-open knife for backup, just in case she dropped one of her knives.
Now this would be funny if she weren't serious. If she wasn't I give her credit as an AMAZING actor, but no she was dead serious. Oh, and it gets better. She started looking at the airsoft guns and as she was looking at one said, "you can freeze 'em, right?" then "The other way is to take a test and wait ten days to get one... I just freeze 'em." First, wrong. Freezing airsoft won't do anything. That's paintball. Second, holy crap lady! What warzone are you headed to?
Don't get me wrong. I'm a conservative guy who believes everyone should have the right to self-defense... but this old lady was just nuts. She couldn't keep still, sort of hummed when she wasn't speaking, and made a whole bunch of questionable comments while buying really pointy things.... Oh right, she also insisted that she carry the knives around the store while she browsed for other items before buying them. When we told her that was against policy, she instantly decided "Okay, I'll buy them now then."
And of course, we sold the stuff to this crazy lady because some lawyer would probably come and ruin our lives if we didn't. Or perhaps we were within our rights to deny her the sale? I dunno. I just hope I didn't have a part in something terrible tonight. @_@
I'm going to look for laws about this crap. That way I'll have a decent idea when the customer has legally crossed the line into the "don't sell to this person" territory.

I crossed that line years ago. XD
Personally, I plan on buying a real steel handgun, possibly a Heckler und Koch USP .40SW. Works much better than frozen... BBs, haha.

But see, you're probably not (clinically) insane. This lady was a nutjob. I honestly don't have any problem with civies owning even fully-automatic weaponry so long as they're stable/trained in the use of the weapon.
Come to think of it, owning a USP. 40sw would be pretty sweet. Target shooting could be a lot of fun.

Thankfully, I know me well enough not to trust myself with fully automatic weaponry. There would be SWAT teams/the National Guard at my house every other night, because there would be nonstop target shooting for a year after I picked that baby up. XD
I keed, of course--I live too far out in the country for anybody to really worry what I do with my guns on my property. Good thing, too, as I more recently obtained a World War II German loadout for a reinactment I'll be attending in February... can you imagine me going to get the newspaper in Suburbia, dressed up in the fatigues I'm trying to break in? I'd get shot.

ROFL! No kidding. I'm not exactly what else to say to that. Uhh... good luck on the reenactment?

You should perfect the over-the-top humorous Nazi accent, kinda like the one used in Call of Duty: World at War as the German's announcer.

Haha, never played World at War... Here, though, just to give you some idea of what my life outside of work and the Internet is like... Haha, not what one would call boring...

I want your disposable income... Sweet guns, by the way. lol I used to live in the middle of nowhere. That was awesome. No one cared if you blew stuff up, so long as it was yours. You can prettymuch go shooting wherever you want so long as you're safe... I miss the middle of nowhere. XD

I wish I had more disposable income... it took me several years to accrue all of this, haha. My most recent purchase is a G3... I have to paint over the orange tip before I go anywhere with it, though...

So it's an airsoft G3 or a real one that someone painted to appear as a toy? (The latter option is a bit... shadier than the former, I'll admit.)

It's AirSoft. Like I said--I don't let myself near real automatic weapons. XD

Ah, I see. I was actually looking at repainting a couple nerf guns so they look cool instead of... like the bowling shoe of toy guns. lol

I laugh at the conversation that is being had in the board.
But I shudder at the unstable woman purchasing things that can do the human body a mischief... I shudder powerfully.

That woman's actions seem perfectly reasonable to me. Multiple knives just make sense, and surely everybody knows that freezing your ammunition means that it does +1D4 cold damage.

Far as I'm aware, the bonus is avaialble for everyone. Cats get a racial penalty of +2D6 to dodge and strays get the skill Scavenge at level six, that's their only racial/class bonus.
Unless...
Adam, what version of RL are you playing? I think some of the earlier editions gave stray cats a few other bonii and penalties.

Haha, I must not have updated from 1.9, where stray cats were the only things that received cold damage from frozen ammo. Will have to purchase the latest edition when I've got the funds. XD

You'd be better off buying a small car for the money! Seriously-H&K loves to buttrape their customers just because they are "the best."
